As is the case for many books that go out of print, the challenge in re-publishing Astaire Dancing: The Musical Films is that the original materials used in creating the book are no longer available. There was no digital file for the book and the original manuscript had either been lost or destroyed by the original publisher. The Educational Publisher worked to recreate the book using a high resolution scan of a copy of the book. All of the larger pictures were enhanced digitally and all of the film slides were improved by extracting single frames from the DVDs of each film which was done with the assistance of Chris Bamberger. This process allowed The Educational Publisher to create a new version of the book that not only now includes over 1000 color images but that is also vastly superior to the original version in appearance. |
